Eastern North Carolina Barbecue Sauce

We are usually the tomato-based barbecue sauce type in this family. However, a very dear Southern friend shared her favorite vinegar sauce with me a while back and it was a complete hit!

Her recipe has just the right amount of tang and makes for one delicious sandwich. I asked my friend, Lisa, if it was considered bad form in the South to drizzle on a little tomato-based barbecue sauce as a condiment. To a Southerner, I am sure this sounds like a very dumb question! But for all those in the same boat as me, she said she wouldn’t do it.

So, if you want a little tomatoey sauce on the side, you can click on this link for my favorite recipe…just don’t tell Lisa!

My favorite pork barbecue recipe is coming up!
