We are usually the tomato-based barbecue sauce type in this family. A very dear Southern friend, however, shared her favorite vinegar sauce with me a while back and it was a complete hit! Her recipe has just the right amount of tang and makes for one delicious sandwich. I asked Lisa if it was considered bad form in the South to drizzle on a little tomato-based barbecue sauce as a condiment. To a Southerner, I am sure this sounds like a very dumb question! But for all those in the same boat as me, she said she wouldn’t do it.

- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
- salt and pepper
- Mix and store up to two months.
