Nutella Iced Latte

A cafe-worthy latte is easy to make at home and for a fraction of the price!

When the weather is warm, I particularly enjoy an iced latte.

As much as I love this coffee house treat, I am always a little annoyed with myself when I spend four dollars for what is essentially milk and a little espresso.

So, I have concocted a few at-home versions over the years that I enjoy just as much, sometimes even more so.

This Nutella latte ranks high on my list. I prefer the drink to be not too sweet, but if you like your lattes a bit sweeter, feel free to increase the amount of Nutella to taste or add your preferred sweetener.

And for those times when you may not be thinking ahead and don’t want to wait for the coffee to chill, have a batch of coffee ice cubes in your freezer. That way, you can have your drink right away, and it won’t be diluted by the ice!

You may use your favorite coffee and simply chill it to have on hand. This Cold Brew Coffee (below) offers a smooth-tasting, make-ahead option that’s delicious on its own, with milk or cream,  or mixed into iced lattes.

Cold Brew Coffee -- easy to make and so smooth

Nutella Iced Latte
I like to make coffee in advance and store in the fridge so it is cold and ready when I am thirsty. This way, the drink won't be diluted by rapidly melting ice cubes. For easy mixing, make sure to stir the Nutella into the coffee while it is hot. Of course, you may enjoy this as a hot drink, too! If you have an espresso maker, you can make your own version using espresso.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (or try this cold brew option)
  • 1/2 cup milk (non-fat, 2%, or soy according to preference)
  • 1 tablespoon Nutella
  • Ice cubes
  • Whipped cream, optional
Instructions
  1. Add the Nutella to the hot coffee and stir to dissolve. Refrigerate until cold. (As an option, you can make ice cubes out of leftover coffee to chill and serve immediately without diluting the coffee.)
  2. Pour the coffee mixture and the milk into a tall glass of ice and stir. Top with a squirt of whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
  • One tablespoon of Nutella will make a latte that is not overly sweet. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you may add more or sweeten to taste.

Just made a pot for tomorrow morning! Delicious and I agree, no additional sweetener is needed. Thanks for the idea!
