The thicker crust of this deep dish recipe makes it ideal for heartier, saucier toppings that tend to make a thinner crust pizza soggy. If you're like me and enjoy extra sauce, or are fond of a meaty cheeseburger pizza, this crust will be an ideal base.
This dough would take well to the addition of fresh or dried herbs.
Because the dough is sticky, it can be difficult to spread. Of all the methods I have tried, my preferred method is to oil both sides of a small square of parchment paper and use that to evenly spread the dough over the bottom and up the sides of the pan.
