The thicker crust of this deep dish recipe makes it ideal for heartier, saucier toppings that tend to make a thinner crust pizza soggy. If you're like me and enjoy extra sauce, or are fond of a meaty cheeseburger pizza, this crust will be an ideal base.

This dough would take well to the addition of fresh or dried herbs.

  • Because the dough is sticky, it can be difficult to spread. Of all the methods I have tried, my preferred method is to oil both sides of a small square of parchment paper and use that to evenly spread the dough over the bottom and up the sides of the pan.
