Thirst-quenching tea doubles as a refreshing home remedy thanks to elderberries and their natural ability to fight cold and flu viruses.Servings: 4-6 servings
1tablespoon(10g) fresh ginger, roughly chopped or thinly sliced
½an orange or 1 clementine, sliced (with peel)
1cinnamon stick, optional
Sugar, honey, maple syrup, or other sweetener to taste
Instructions
Add everything except the sweetener to a medium pot and bring to a boil. Stir, cover the pot, and remove from the heat.
Let the covered pot sit for about 30 minutes. (I set a timer so I don’t forget.) Strain into a pitcher, gently squeezing the orange slices to extract some of the juice, and then stir in sweetener to taste. (I use about 3 tablespoons. If using granulated or cane sugar as opposed to a liquid sweetener, the tea will still be warm enough to dissolve it; just stir until it’s incorporated.) Dilute with cold water if the tea is too strong for your taste.
Chill and serve with ice and an optional orange or clementine slice.
