Cranberry Old Fashioned
Yield: 1 serving
If you'd prefer a bigger pour, increase the bourbon to 2 ounces and the cranberry syrup to 1 ounce. To prepare for a group, simply scale up the ingredients, minus the sparkling water, as needed and mix in a pitcher. When ready to serve, top off each cocktail with a splash of sparkling water and garnish as desired.

  • 1½ ounces bourbon
  • ¾ ounce cranberry syrup (see recipe card above)
  • 1 dash cocktail bitters (like Angostura; may omit if you don’t have them)
  • Splash of club soda or sparkling water
  • Optional garnishes: orange twist or slice, maraschino or Luxardo cherry, sugared cranberries, and/or cinnamon stick

  1. Place an ice cube or two in your glass. (An old fashioned glass, rocks, or lowball glass is traditional. A bourbon ball is fun for the ice cube if you have a mold).

Add the bourbon, cranberry syrup, bitters, and a splash of club soda. Stir, and then add an orange twist, a cherry or several sugared cranberries, and/or a cinnamon stick. Cheers!
