Are you struggling to honor your own healthy relationship with food while also providing food for your loved ones? Many of us do, and it IS possible to find that balance. Let’s talk about how we can nourish all of you!
Meet Emily Russo, MS, RD, CDN, LDN & Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor
I firmly believe healthy eating is rooted in having a healthy relationship with all food.
As a proud mom of two, and daughter to a chronically ill parent, I have lived the everyday intersection between honoring my own relationship with food while supporting my loved ones’ journey as they navigate food in the world around them. It’s not easy. Some days it clicks, other days are more challenging.
My Approach
I make connections between clinical nutrition (or medical nutrition therapy), food & nutrition science, and how we relate to food in our everyday lives. There isn’t always a perfect balance, especially when we are caring for ourselves while also caring for others.
Professional Background
I have 13 years experience as a Registered Dietitian. For six years, I worked as a senior dietitian for New York-Presbyterian Hospital and covered every unit from ICU, pediatrics, kidney care (my specialty!), and post-op to name a few.
But after having kids, I thought about nutrition science from a different angle and began to experience food differently.
I had to care for myself while also caring for others and it opened my mind to a course on intuitive eating that I took while pursuing my Master’s at NYU. I followed this with a certification as an Intuitive Eating Counselor, which helps me tie together the reality of everyday life with the facts and functions of how food fuels us.
This is how it feels to work with me…
We won’t just talk about macros and measuring cups. We’ll talk about the daily challenges we face, sifting through what we read and hear in the news and on social media, focusing on what matters most to you. We’ll talk about the nuance of feeding and supporting kids as they move through independence of food. We will talk about feeding spouses or family members with new onset illnesses and how that impacts our own nutrition.
While I do believe my solid background in nutrition and nutrition research is one of my strengths, I also happen to be reliable, enthusiastic, and have a fun sense of humor!
Nutrition Counseling
Nutrition counseling is a productive way to support YOU on your own food journey through the lens of your own lived experiences and goals. While these will be different than my own, I am committed to providing guidance and support without a side of judgment.
Frequently Asked Questions
We will schedule a 30-minute complementary chat, or “discovery call,” so that I can better understand your needs and you can better understand what I can offer.
If we determine it’s a good fit, we can schedule a package of virtual sessions.
I use Calendly to book appointments. The system shows you when I am available, so you can book times that are convenient for you. Each 50-minute session will give us space to take a deep and thoughtful dive into all food and nutrition needs.
For the first year of our new website, we are offering a 15% discount to those who commit to a package. At this rate, sessions are $125 per session.
Typically, clients start with a package of 6 sessions for $750 (about 2 months), or 12 sessions for $1400 (about 4 months). In some circumstances, or after introductory packages, it may make sense to book single sessions.
