Welcome! My name is Ann Fulton, and I’m the author, recipe developer, and home chef behind The Fountain Avenue Kitchen.

The Fountain Avenue Kitchen was actually my grandmother’s kitchen. It was the place where I first pulled up a stool and watched this amazingly funny and frugal woman who worked all day, come home and turn simple, fresh ingredients into culinary wonders. The meals weren’t fancy but were always delicious. In my modern-day Fountain Avenue Kitchen, I create easy recipes aimed to fit into our crazy, hectic lifestyles.

The reliable recipes are designed to be nutritious and delicious, include lots of make-ahead components, and provide options based on individual tastes and dietary needs. Of course, you can bank on the occasional treat. In addition, most of the recipes are gluten-free or can be easily modified to be so.

In addition to this blog, my Fountain Avenue Kitchen column appeared weekly for the better part of a decade in The Lancaster Sunday News and later LNP. I have also been a contributor to Lancaster General Health Penn Medicine, Susquehanna Style magazine, and several TV news shows. Additionally, I have done recipe development, consulting, and food styling for a variety of national and regional food and health care companies as well as local restaurants. I enjoy working with people in a wide range of environments, especially the kids in my community, and have volunteered for many local organizations.

I’m the proud mom of John and Christian, and along with my husband Jack, they have proved to be the best taste testers a recipe developer could hope for. In the few times when we aren’t eating, we love to hike, play games, and travel together when possible. My favorite meals are seared salmon over a really good salad and baked oatmeal with blueberries and vanilla yogurt. For dessert? Always ice cream!

Thank you for coming to my blog. I love learning more about my readers, and hearing their feedback. Feel free to email me, or comment directly on a recipe post. In the meantime, happy cooking!

In the spring of 2020, I met Ann as I was finishing my Master’s degree in Food & Nutrition at NYU. She was looking for help with her ever-growing business, as well as a dietitian to add more evidence-based nutrition content to the blog in response to her readers’ nutrition questions. I cooked my way through Ann’s recipes and became (and still am) her partner and #1 fan!

I’m a proud mom of two with over a decade of experience as a Registered Dietitian. For six years, I worked as a senior dietitian for New York-Presbyterian Hospital and covered every unit from ICU, pediatrics, kidney care (my specialty!), and post-op to name a few. But after having kids, I thought about nutrition science from a different perspective and began to experience food through a different lens, one that was less binary and more inclusive.

It opened my mind to a course on intuitive eating. I took this course while pursuing my Master’s and followed with a certification as an Intuitive Eating Counselor, which helps me tie together the reality of everyday life with the facts and functions of how food fuels us.
